Another airline has decided to stop serving the Tokyo Narita Airport in favour of Haneda.
British Airways is streamlining its operations in Tokyo at the moment. The airline company has stated that beginning in March, all of its operations in Tokyo will be moved to Tokyo Haneda International Airport, which is situated significantly closer to the core of the city than Narita International Airport.
At the moment, the airline runs two flights each day from London Heathrow (LHR) to Tokyo, with one flight going to Tokyo Haneda (HND) and the other flight going to Tokyo Narita (NRT) (NRT). As was initially reported by GSTP, British Airways (BA) will move all of its operations in Tokyo to HND, which will result in the airline having two daily nonstop flights between London and Haneda beginning on March 28.
British Airways has confirmed to TPG that they will be operating a second daily flight into Tokyo Haneda Airport, which is where their partner JAL operates the majority of their domestic flights. "We are excited we will be operating a second daily flight into Tokyo Haneda Airport," the airline stated. Our customers can look forward to improved connection between the United Kingdom and Japan, quicker access into the city of Tokyo, and newly redesigned partner lounges at Haneda Airport.
Between the two frequencies, British Airways (BA) will run not only a 777 but also a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The 777 is the aircraft type that is currently utilised to fly the LHR-HND route. Notably, the airline will not be operating one of its brand-new Airbus A350 aircraft on the route. These planes are equipped with the company's most recent Club Suite business-class product and would have been an ideal choice for the flight. As a direct consequence of this, travellers will be assigned one of the airline's Club World seats from an earlier generation.
The relocation of British Airways' Tokyo operations to Haneda is, all things considered, a step in the right direction for travellers who are eager to make their way into the heart of Tokyo more quickly and easily. To put this into perspective, if you were to drive from Narita to the heart of the city, it would take at least an hour and a half, but it might easily take much longer. In the meantime, Haneda will take between thirty and forty-five minutes, depending on the traffic.
Delta Air Lines made the announcement in August 2019 that it would be moving its hub operations from Tokyo Narita to Haneda Airport.
